Forty years post 1965 finds me happily married to Jim Nichols since 1969. We lived in Gasport until 1977 when we set off for Ohio and Indiana—movin' West! We have settled on the shores of a small ski/fishing lake in northern Indiana. We have two grown sons. Tyler practices physical therapy in middle Tennessee. He's married to Christy and they are the proud parents of our grandson Matthew. Braden is a carpenter in Indianapolis. Jim and I both work in the printing business—I manage academic prepress work and he is a catalog bindery supervisor (very different companies!—mine tiny, his huge). We enjoy boating and relaxing by the lake, visiting with our kids, and traveling to New Orleans.

2010 Update:   Has it just been five years since we had our 40th? There have been lots of happenings in my life. We still live at the lake and love every minute of it. We still like to visit New Orleans in the spring -- even after Katrina... we're not so sure about the oil disaster. My feeling is that it will have worse effects on the economy long-term than the hurricanes. It is very sad indeed. In 2007 we had a major medical year. I broke my wrist in February and required an external fixator to repair it -- 6 weeks with bone screws sticking out of my arm. Right after that Jim almost went down for the long count; he had some major surgery in April to correct a "cecal volvulus." If you don't know what that is, ask me! I literally almost lost him but I'm glad to say he's still with us. Then in the fall I needed another new hip (the right one this time). Judy Evra and I can attest to the wonders of modern orthopaedics!! Warsaw, IN is the "Orthopaedic Capital of the World" so everyone wants to know what kind of hips I have... good ones! We have another addition to the family -- David Nichols joined us in 2008. Big brother Matthew is now a grown-up six-year-old and a proud kindergarten graduate! And now ... drum roll ... the biggest news of the year: Jim retired officially on June 1, 2010. I've still got my nose to the grindstone.
